1983 Alfa Romeo Alfasud Ti

Since this little beauty has resided with us here at HPC Classics, the amount of “I can’t remember the last time I saw one of those”, or the “I think the last time I saw one that tidy it was in the showroom” comments have been astounding! With earlier 4 door cars seeing £20k these days, their rarity is certainly being noted, so we think this one is somewhat of a find! The fact that they have a rather special engine, with all of the weight nice and low down, over the front axle elevated their status in the press, being known as the best handling front wheel drive car in the world. An accolade they held until the release of the Lotus Elan M100 in 1989.

 

This little peach is a rare 3 door Ti model with its wonderfully original Ti interior (all barring the speakers and modern head unit) in great all-round condition, it just shows that it has been kept in good ownership. The paintwork does have small blemishes here and there, but overall is very tidy and presents to a standard whereby you’d be proud to take it to shows, or spend a little on it and take it to the next level. The heady rasp of the boxer engine is unlike any other hot hatch, especially of that era, it revs so freely through its twin downdraft Dell ‘Orto DRLA carbs and really sets itself apart from the German and British competition.

 

On the road, the car is genuinely quite quick, even by today’s standards. With the classic styling looking achingly cool in the shop windows a noise unlike any other car on the road and a driving experience that is so involving, it’s not hard to see why the motoring press lorded over these cars hence us sourcing this car for one of our clients, who has always wanted one. This was the best one we could find. So, the car is now on sale on behalf of our client as he has decided on his next purchase, so we have a motivated seller!

With a history file of MOTs dating back to 1994, it shows that the car has been well cared for over the years, having anything it needed done. The car also has its original Alfasud owner’s manual still present and a spare set of keys, it proves that the car has been in good ownership. As is evidenced by the latest invoice showing the care lavished on the car this year.

 

This year the car has had a new clutch, timing belt and tensioners, engine mounts, brake and clutch bleed along with new coolant. The car has also been polybushed, has a stainless-steel exhaust system and is genuinely rust free. As mentioned, there are a few small blemishes in the paintwork here and there, but overall, the car presents very well for its age.
