This very early pre cat is from the first year of production in 1992. These early cars without the catalytic converters are loved by many for their free revving nature when compared to their somewhat strangled later counterparts. They also produced another 10hp due to the less restrictive exhaust system.
With a huge service history to back its mileage of 67,000 (inclusive of the odometer change) but also its fabulous fully original condition inside and out, it ticks all of the boxes of an ideal driveable investment. It still has its TVR book pack with all service stamps present and correct. It also comes with a huge file of history and receipts, the Steve Heath Bible and a workshop manual for the budding enthusiast.
Sitting pretty on its original, expensive and desirable Amil wheels, it really does look every part the 1990’s icon it was designed to be. The only upgrades from standard are a “big brake” upgrade on the front and an ACT smooth bore induction kit and smoked headlamp covers of which are sensible and do not detract from the car’s appearance. The all-important chassis and outriggers are in perfect all round condition, having been fully restored by us at HPC. A V8 Developments engine rebuild and a fresh stainless ACT exhaust system mean that every major item has been ticked off for the next ten years!
This particular Griffith has benefited from a thorough pre-sales service (12k in TVR language) comprising, clutch bleed, brakes, coolant, engine oil, diff & box oil, plugs & filters too.
With 250 Blackpool horsepower on tap, it will easily embarrass modern hot hatches. Add to that the utterly fabulous noise of the unmistakable pre-cat, with the roof off this really is a great car to drive. So good in fact that I personally own one that left the factory in exactly the same specification!
The engines in these cars sit so far back that not only are they technically mid-engined, but the gearbox will keep you warm in winter!
