1992 TVR Griffith 400 Pre-cat

This very early pre cat is from the first year of production in 1992. These early cars without the catalytic converters are loved by many for their free revving nature when compared to their somewhat strangled later counterparts. They also produced another 10hp due to the less restrictive exhaust system. The eagle eyed among you TVR enthusiasts will notice the de-catted 500 manifolds, which further increase flow and create an even greater noise! It also has 500 door runners and 500 wheels, which were an “updated” look in period.

 

With a huge service history to back its mileage of 62k, it has had an awful lot of large expensive jobs taken care of, only the small bits of aesthetic work need finishing. It ticks all of the boxes of an ideal driveable investment to use and improve. It still has its TVR book pack with most of its stamps in place. It also comes with a huge file of history and receipts and old MOT’s dating to 2001 to back up its mileage.

 

The car presents well having had new carpets and the seats re connolised in 2019. There are a few marks on the body commensurate with age, but nothing that greatly detracts from its overall appearance.

 

On the road it is fiery, a very healthy 400 engine gives all of the pull you’d hope for from a V8 90’s icon. It has been well fettled in its lifetime and most recently in 2020 it was given a top end refresh by V8 Developments, hence it going so well. It then had a full service at Mat Smith Sports Cars in 2021 to make sure it was in fine fettle. The tyres are nearly new, having been fitted in 2020 and grip well. The brakes are also pin sharp having had new upgraded discs and pads all around in 2016 and having covered minimal mileage since.

 

The car is also accompanied by the largest quantity of parts and additions for the new owner to play with and use to get it to the next level. It was also once owned by a rather famous lady, which will only be revealed in the history file for certain reasons!

The car has a great original chassis, with a set of Protech dampers and springs on the back, the underside of the car is very clean and has clearly lived a cosseted life. The engine bay is in very nice order and the car has 3 keys and the immobiliser works perfectly every time, with the car firing on the key without issue.
