1998 Alpina B10 V8 - No. 388

The thinking man’s M5 as they’ve been known, the B10 V8 was produced in much smaller numbers and therefore was a very rare sight on the road when new, let alone today. To see one this good is another thing entirely!

 

My personal favourite colour combination of green and gold stripes, this was my own personal car, which will give you an idea of how much I like it & also how well prepared it is! It has virtually every option BMW had available at the time, I’ve not seen another pre-facelift car with as large a spec before or since, this car truly is unrepeatable.

 

On the road the car is effortlessly smooth, Alpina’s suspension eating up the bumps in an almost Lotus-esque manner, with the double-glazed windows, the car is almost silent, until you plant your right foot – unleashing all of the low-down torque the car takes off at a rate that completely belies its size, reserved styling and understated design language. Corners arrive at a startling rate, but push into them and the suspension almost refuses to roll, especially when taking into account just how comfortable the car is, it truly is a Jekyll and Hyde type of car!

 

With the Alpina upgrades to the gearbox and having the shift buttons on the steering wheel, pulling down a gear pre-turn in emits a lovely pop and crackle that you barely hear with the windows closed (you’ll find yourself opening the sunroof specifically to hear it). Only those that know really understand how good Alpina’s are, why not come and test one out for yourself and fall in love!

HISTORY:

 

Both of our B10’s have an incredible history with them. This one has 3 keys, all original book pack, a huge leather-bound history folder, with the history from new, showing that it has been well cared for by marque specialists Munich Legends most of its life & has been in Alpina enthusiast ownership for the last few years ending with myself for the past few months, yes that’s right, it is my personal car, so you know that it has been loved. If sold for the full rate I will also throw in the 50 years of Alpina book from my own personal collection.
