Description
A welcome return to round lamps for all of the enthusiasts was the 997, also according to those in the know a better sorted package as Porsche’s second generation of water-cooled cars. This one being a desirable spec for the budding driver, with the S package meaning a 0.4 litre increase in displacement increasing grunt and ferocity, also having the waggly stick and three pedals, makes it even more so. Add to that the fact that this one is a rare 2-wheel drive car, it really is the full package to pilot.
So, if you’re in the market for a well sorted 911, this one will fit the bill well, having had around £12k’s worth of preventative maintenance this year alone, its current owner is beyond diligent and it shows. The car drives perfectly, with snappy accurate gear shifts, it charges hard and the steering is pinpoint accurate. The factory upgraded wheels really set the car off too.
The car presents well considering its age and mileage. It isn’t a concours contender, but it’s very presentable and shines nicely in the dappled light of a summers evening. You can tell it has been owned by people that appreciate the driving dynamics as opposed to posing, they’ve looked after the mechanicals a lot more than the aesthetics, it does still look great but is best enjoyed from behind the wheel!
On the road it really is as well controlled as any of the best GT cars out there, but with an accuracy that is just impossible to beat until you’re sat behind a McLaren steering wheel. Overall, a brilliant car that looks understated but purposeful, with a great history and ready to go and enjoy!
Technical specification
A C2S is a rarity in itself, let alone in manual guise. So, to find one in a decent colour combo, that has been well cared for, especially in its very recent history means that you can really just jump in and enjoy this car to the full. Is it the perfect daily sports / GT car with the 4 (ahem) seats?
With a full book pack, both keys, a raft of invoices and history to go with the car, it has a strong history. It also has had some very large jobs done as a matter of prevention being better than a cure, so the engine and box out job of A/C lines, coolant pipes, clutch slave, brake pipes, full suspension refresh wherever deemed necessary, including bushes, drop links, shock absorbers, struts, top mounts, bearings, new undertrays, you name it. This car is ready to enjoy for the next 20 years!
It has also had the bores scoped whilst the engine was out, so that you’re safe in the knowledge that the engine is also in fine fettle inside too. It had steering rack pipes, with lots of ancillaries whilst in there. All either by ourselves or Porsche specialists, with full documentation to show the level of work undertaken.
So, there you have it, a rare spec, in absolutely perfect mechanical condition, ready to hop in and either use daily, or cherish and watch its value rise, just like every other raw driver’s version of a 911 preceding the 997. Either way, you’re going to love it.
