  • Description

A TVR Sagaris is quite a thing to behold, but the one and only lightweight RT (Road and Track) variant, is just a whole new level. HPC Classics are honoured to bring to market the only factory built lightweight Sagaris, which is in the exact same order as it left the factory, thanks to its one and only diligent owner. Nothing offers what a Sagaris can as an ownership experience as it stands, but add the one of one status, even better handling, blinding looks, history and story of chassis number 001 (yes, it really is 001) together and it could well be the best investment car of the modern age, albeit the one you can drive and enjoy all whilst it keeps accelerating and accelerate you will…

On the road, the lack of weight is noticeable, being under a ton, it is lithe and changes direction like a flea. The punch from the frankly awesome speed six engine even more evident with less mass to move than the already light standard car, this is about as good as driving gets. Over 400bhp per ton, numbers that most cars can’t muster. Add to it the immense levels of feedback and feel only a TVR can give you, this is a serious weapon on the road & track. Yet it still retains most of its creature comforts and the standard TVR space inside, so you can genuinely use it and enjoy it, as it was intended.

There really isn’t anything like a Sagaris anyway, this is one turned up to 11! Is it an upgrade to a standard production car? Yes, absolutely. It’s all the things you already love about them, but just better! The only real downfall is that there is only one, as ideally, we’d all want one, it’s that good. The history file backs the car up from the day it was built, with the most incredible history, it can only be told in a 10-page special in the TVR Car Club’s magazine! Including, but not limited to holding a Guiness World Record with stunt driver Terry Grant, this really is as special as a road car gets!

  • Technical specification

As there is so much to say about chassis 001, let’s just start with how it came about: This was the first of a line destined to be the next Tuscan Challenge car, a one make race series, which never happened. Being that they wants it to be more focussed, the differences from a standard car are huge, a list of the major ones that set it aside from a normal Sagaris are below:

    • Vinylester body (-90kg)
    • Lightweight wheels
    • Fire extinguisher set up
    • Vents cut out
    • Hydratrack Differential
    • Sparco seats
    • Harness bar
    • Harnesses
    • Flocked dash
    • Fully lined engine bay

There are plenty more subtle changes for those that fancy getting into the real detail, we have a video on YouTube which shows more of the car: YouTube video of the car

If you’re considering a Sagaris and want something unrepeatable, this car really ticks every collector’s box. For starters, it’s useable! It has photographic history from the date of build, it is chassis number one, it has one previous owner, being the Bristol Avenue TVR Factory, it was driven by Nikolai Smolenski, the owner of TVR at the time, it has a Guiness world record, it is exactly how it left the factory still today and it is a true one off. A Sagaris is a rare breed with only 185 – 211 ish made, this is a whole new level.

A car that simply cannot be beaten on any score, as far as a driveable and enjoyable investment car goes, we think you’ll struggle. There is only one, this is the only chance you’ll get to have it, so we recommend not pondering too long, opportunities like this only rear their head once a lifetime…
