2005 TVR Tuscan S - MK2

Another iconic car, leaping to fame with John Travolta at the wheel in Swordfish, TVR had the phone ringing off the hooks with 50 calls a day from the USA with people asking how they could buy & import one! The short answer is that they couldn’t! With these machines quickly approaching the 25-year cut off period to import them into the USA their values have started to soar in recent years, a trend that is only set to continue.

 

Just looking at this particular mk2 you can tell in an instant that it is quite possibly the best presented TVR we’ve yet seen. With a fresh interior, paintwork, windscreen, new hood and the engine bay not only detailed but fitted with the hinged bonnet upgrade, this car means business.

 

It is currently owned by a good friend and local collector, who bought it as a very good Moonraker black car with low mileage only 3 years back. It was taken straight to Central TVR to be re-trimmed and re-sprayed in his choice of colours, which to our mind is about as classy as you’ll see on a Tuscan.

 

The car literally wants for nothing and as such drives perfectly. Power is abundant as you’d expect but easily tamed with the lovely all-alloy pedal box that adorns these beautifully built cars. Turn in and handling are sublime, way better than you’d be led to believe, the later TVRs are much more rigid with the in-built roll hoops stiffening the chassis and allowing the upgraded Nitron dampers to do their thing. Add to that the noise of TVR’s own Speed Six engine, which raises the hairs on your neck – all in all an utterly spell-binding drive that can’t be replaced by any other car on the market.

 

The service book has 15 stamps in it, which is nice and healthy considering the car’s low mileage. There are well over twenty-five thousand pounds worth of invoices to back up the condition of the car too. The chassis is perfect having been waxoyled and likely never seeing the rain either, it is in impeccable condition. The suspension has been upgraded to Gaz Gold dampers all round and the wheels powder coated in shadow chrome. So the car drives as well as it presents.

 

The car has undergone some major TLC even though it didn’t need it. A full re-spray, a re-trim, hinged bonnet upgrade amongst many other items all have been carried out by TVR specialists in recent years.

 

During its period spent getting up to the incredible level you see on show today, the current owner commissioned a new roof, new windscreen and many other smaller items, including some more sound deadening and an up-to-date stereo system to make the ride more comfortable for those long continental trips.

 

As we strive to only put the best cars to market, we have just completed a steering rack refurb, due to a slight leak, meaning the oil, coolant and power steering fluid have also been replaced, all by us here at HPC the car needs for nothing and is ready for the new owner to enjoy.
