2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante

The DB11 when it arrived in 2016 was received very well, with critical acclaim. Adored by the press not only for its design, which is easy to see, but for its chassis and overall comfort and pace. You can easily see why Aston Martin chose to only offer the V8 in the Volante models, as it saves on weight and keeps the balance of the car, as the power unit is well set back into the chassis. The AMG sourced 3.9 litre twin turbo unit not only sounds every bit like the Astons of old, but it has an urgency that 500bhp seldom offers in a car of such size and comfort, it is impressively fast. No more power would be needed on any occasion.

 

This particular car was very nicely optioned from the factory by its one previous owner. Skyfall silver for starters is absolutely stunning in the daylight and really shows off the lines on the car with grace. The red hood matches in quite nicely with the brake callipers and the twin tone interior compliments the overall package nicely. With heated and cooled front seats, you’re guaranteed comfort all year round too. The dihedral doors open and give lots of room to access the cockpit, comfort is the real key here.

 

The car is a great driver’s machine, in the sporty settings it comes alive. Punchy throttle response and the transaxle rear end bites very well with the weight balance being towards the rear of the car. The stand out component for me however are the brakes. Not the most powerful I’ve ever experienced, but for a modern GT car, not over servo assisted, meaning that you have great modulation and control over the car, which is rare these days, well done Aston martin – A very well considered GT car indeed.

Having covered a mere 5,000 miles in its lifetime and being stored professionally either with ourselves or in a heated garage, the car presents as well underneath as it does on top. It has been serviced only by Aston Martin main dealers and has a warranty that will run until midway through 2025 for the buyer’s peace of mind.

 

The factory spec choices make this car really stand out from the crowd, the Skyfall silver paint, red roof and brake callipers and for me the real show stopper that brings the whole classy package together are those wheels, truly in a different league to all of the other options out there and refreshing to see silver is making a comeback.

 

The factory booklets, key box and spare key are all present with the vehicle, along with the receipts, service documents and all of the visits stamped in the service handbook. The care lavished upon the car ensures that it drives just like a brand-new car. It of course, still smells like one too & that’s just as important!

 

Overall, this is a wonderfully appointed grand tourer, all prepped to go for the next year, warrantied by Aston Martin themselves and in fantastic condition all round. If you’re after a DB11 or any drop top GT car for the summer for that matter, this has to be worthy of a look, all of the reviews of this great modern Aston will agree!
