Description
This fabulous TR is well known to us at HPC Classics, as we have looked after it for the last year or so. The paintwork and chrome are in very good condition, not perfect, but solid and completely rust free, which is the important thing. The car is almost completely original which is lovely as it has a patina to it which can’t be replicated on a restored vehicle.
This is an honest car with thousands spent on upgrades to prepare the car for sprinting at Curborough a good few years back. So, it drives, handles and goes exactly as you’d either expect or remember them to and will want for nothing, bar driving and enjoying it. It would appear that the engine has been rebuilt, with a new camshaft and a top end rebuild, reground crank, honed bores etc… which shows with just how well it pulls in any gear. The overdrive works beautifully making the experience all the better.
With nimble steering, light controls and an almost modern seating position, even for the loftier driver, there’s plenty of comfort to do longer tours and weekend jaunts, or to attack the B roads in style. The suspension is renowned for being soft on these cars and this one is no exception, cruising over even the nastiest of potholes without breaking a sweat. It really is a comfortable place to be.
A lovely example, in the best colour scheme ready to go and be enjoyed.
Technical specification
With a substantial history file, backing up the car’s mileage and care over the past 30 years, with MOT history back to 1994 along with all of the major receipts, including that of the engine rebuild at 71,000 miles. The car also comes with an original (reproduction) owner’s handbook which is good to see.
The car is fitted with an upgraded stainless steel exhaust system and it sounds fantastic, just the tune for nipping along the country roads!
With only around 4,100 of these left on the road as of 2020, they are becoming increasingly rare. And to find a great honest rust free and original car really is a treat. A great British muscle car, with serious road presence and classic 70’s styling, values have doubled already in recent years, so this is a sure-fire safe investment that you can enjoy for years to come.
